Smiles Foundation was created in 1992 by a group of friends, with the only purpose of making a better Christmas for thousands of underprivileged children in Latin America.
Observing the children in the streets on one Christmas night in Bogota, inspired Alfonso Jaramillo to alert his friends and raise funds to distribute gifts to unfortunate children in Colombia, with the premise that this might be the only gift and hope of a lonely child in Christmas. Since then, Smiles Foundation has multiplied thousands of children's smiles in Colombia.
To contribute towards making a difference among underprivileged children in Latin America, Smiles Foundation raises funds during the Night for Smiles, an event held every year in the City of Miami that is sponsored by different local organizations, private businesses and the support of friends and family members.
The funds collected at the Night for Smiles are distributed among different non-profit organizations in Colombia through Conexion Colombia and in Bolivia through Smiles Foundation Bolivia, who partners with other local non-profits to execute projects that help children receive a special gift during Christmas and promote education trough the distribution of school supplies.
